We’re Criminal Defence Lawyers

You’re charged with a criminal offence. It doesn’t matter whether you did or didn’t do it, if you’re standing alone the whole might of the state is unfairly arrayed against you. You desperately need someone to stand with you against what is coming.

We’re criminal defence lawyers. That’s what we do. In fact, it’s the only thing we do; defend anyone against any type of criminal charge anywhere in Ontario.

None of us practice any other type of law or are part-time Crown Attorneys or do any kind of prosecution work at all. We believe that would risk undermining our focus upon and our loyalties to the people we represent.

None of us aspire to play any other kind of role in the criminal justice system. While we admire and respect these roles, we only enjoy defending people.

But are we any good at it? Well, you won’t see us boast of industry awards on this site that others lobby and pay for, nor membership in industry associations to which anyone can belong. We belong to the associations that are important we belong to for the sake of the people we represent, and we prefer the recognition of the people we represent. Their referring us to someone else in need of our services because we met their needs is the only award that matters to us.

In fact, if you’ve come to this site shopping for someone to represent you, we really would prefer you hadn’t. We’d much rather you’ve come to it because you’ve been referred to us by someone we’ve already represented, or by one of their family or friends, and you’re only trying to learn a little more about us before we meet. We suspect it won’t be very hard to connect with someone we’ve already represented—regardless of your career or station in life—and we’re more than happy to let that someone be our advertisement.

We’re criminal defence lawyers. It’s our living, but it’s also our passion. We don’t see the people who come to us in perhaps their greatest hour of need as marks to be exploited; we see them as honouring us with the opportunity to do the work that we love.

We’re a firm of criminal defence lawyers. While we admire and respect criminal defence lawyers who choose to practice alone, experience has taught us you need to be as big and strong as you can to go up against the size and strength of the police services and the Crown. Only one of us can be standing beside you upon your trial, but that does not mean you cannot have a whole firm behind you before and throughout as well.

We’re a firm of criminal defence partners. We believe we are absolutely unique for our size in that regard. None of us work for any other one of us. None of us are employees that have to please a superior or make a profit for them. Every one of us only has to please the people they represent. What we owe each other is to maintain the respect of each other through the quality of our work.
